HELLO!

Iā€™m Lizzie, and I founded Elizabeth Bakes in 2021 after graduating from university with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

My love for baking all things sweet started from a very young age, baking at home in the kitchen with my mum, having her teach me all she knows and passing down recipes to me that her mum taught her.

At 16, I decided to leave my secondary school and applied to study at Westminster Kingsway College, completing the Professional Patisserie Scholarship, an apprenticeship course that I attended weekly whilst working full time at Hix Restaurant in Soho. These two years were some of the best I have ever experienced. They were tough and often very long, but I had an amazing head chef and mentor to me, Mikael Paylor, who taught me more than I could have ever wished for and showed me exactly what it is that I love to do.

After working at Hix, I then moved on to work at 45 Jermyn St at Fortnum and Mason, I was there for a further 2 years working on the pastry section, and having the opportunity to develop my own desserts to put on the menu. With the experience of working in these amazing restaurants, I discovered exactly what my passion was, being able to make people happy with the sweet bakes that I make, and seeing them enjoy them. At this point, Elizabeth Bakes was just an idea, but it was an idea that I knew I wanted to pursue. I then decided to leave my job completely and apply go back to study at Westminster Kingsway College, full time, to complete the Hospitality and Tourism Management degree, to learn and understand all that goes into starting up a business, which before, I was completely oblivious to.

After graduating from Westminster Kingsway College, Elizabeth Bakes finally came to life. With so much help from my parents and support from my partner, I took over my parents kitchen at home (sorry mum!) and started to develop on recipes that would be able to be enjoyed nationwide, and unique to Elizabeth Bakes.

I hope you enjoy all of the sweet baked treats that we have to offer, just as much as I have loved being able to bake them!
